Termite & pest control methods

icon-1Termite control methods and termiticides

We can design an integrated termite management plan and provide a range of products to suit your needs.

Termiticide Options:
1. Dusts/Foams – Are generally applied directly to termite activity and are intended as a curative treatment to eliminate the activity which is present at the time. Applications of dust/foam provides no long term protection of the structure which has been treated and therefore must be used in conjunction with another termite management system which does provide protection of the structure.

2. Soil Applied Termiticide – One the most common methods for lonf term protection of buildings against termite damage is the application of a termiticide to the soil to form a barrier(treated zone) which stops termites entering the building. When applied properly by a professional pest technician this is an effective means to provide ongoing protection of the property.

There are two groups of soil applied termiticides: the older product BIFENTHRIN is known as a repellent termiticide which, when applied to the soil, create a repellent barrier(treated zone) to termite entry. One weakness is that termites are able to detect these residues in the soil and by avoiding them, over time, find any gaps to subsequently enter the building.

The second group of soil applied termiticides include two non-repellent compounds: IMIDACLOPRID(Premise), FIPRONIL(Termidor). Termites are not able to detect residuals of these compounds in the soil and are therefore killed before they are able to find any gaps in the barrier(treated zone). A secondary benefit of these compounds is that termites are able to pass on the chemical to other individuals in the colony(nest) which over time can result in colony(nest) elimination.

icon-1Redback Spider Treatment / Control

Our spider treatments are carried out in 3 stages. Stage 1 An ultra low volume misting of all external areas such as eaves, gutter lines, pergolas, outdoor furniture and fence lines. Stage 2 Misting of internal areas such as cornices and skirtings. Stage 3 Dusting of ceiling voids. All of the products we use are synthetic pyrethroids and have been through extensive testing and approved by the appropriate authorities. All material safety data sheets are carried by our technicians and can be supplied upon request.

icon-2All Ants Control with warranty

We can treat coast brown ants, sugar feed ants, bulldog ants etc. We have adopted a search and destroy method rather than relying on conventional residual spray methods. We use sweetened gels impregnated with odourless insecticides placed in strategic areas for foraging ants to transfer to the nest. Insecticidal dusts are placed in wall cavities and ceiling voids to target nesting sites.

icon-6Flea Control / Treatment

Good hygiene practices for pets such as approved flea washes and routine washing of animals bedding and sleeping quarters are essential to controlling and preventing flea infestations. The most common control of flea outbreaks is the application of synthetic pyrethroid insecticides to all surface and flea harbourage areas. Some severe infestations may require several treatments to control and eliminate fleas.

icon-7Bee control/ Removal

Direct injection of the nest with insecticidal dusts is the most effective method of control however this relies on locating nests and hives. Treating foraging individuals with these dusts is ineffective to nest eradication. Various studies are being carried out on baits to control European wasp nests. These baits rely on an active ingredient impregnated into a food source for the workers to transport throughout the nest to ultimately eliminate it.

icon-8Millipede Control

The reduction of organic matter around the home such as mulch and leaves will assist in reducing the number of millipedes found. The application of residual wettable powder insecticide such as Bendiocarb and Carbral where adults and larvae are found, such as garden beds and around external perimeters of homes has proved to be the most affective treatment.

icon-9Cockroach Control / Treatment

The main control methods for the eradication of cockroaches is gel baits. These allow us to eliminate cockroaches in domestic and commercial situations without any disruption or evacuation. Residual synthetic pyrethroids and dusts may also be required to control certain species. Glue boards are used to monitor activity and identify species and problem areas. A good housekeeping & hygiene program is essential to discourage cockroach infestation. Ensure that all food scraps are removed, crack and crevices in kitchens should be sealed and minimize storage and rubbish around external areas.

icon-10Rat / Mice Control

An Integrated Pest Management strategy is necessary for rodent control. Our programs are designed to reduce rodent populations without harming any off target species such as pets and native animals. This is possible with the use of accumulative anti-coagulant baits secured in tamper resistant stations placed in and around your home. These programs also involve advice on reducing the areas that can allow rodents to thrive.

Direct injection of the nest with insecticidal dusts is the most effective method of control however this relies on locating nests and hives. Treating foraging individuals with these dusts is ineffective to nest eradication. Various studies are being carried out on baits to control European wasp nests. These baits rely on an active ingredient impregnated into a food source for the workers to transport throughout the nest to ultimately eliminate it.

icon-12Bed Bugs Control / Treatment

Good hygiene practices are essential to controlling and preventing bed bug infestations along with sealing cracks and crevices to affected areas where possible. The most common control of bed bug outbreaks is the application of synthetic pyrethroid insecticides to all surface and bed bug harbourage areas. In some situations such as traveller accommodation an ongoing program may be required.
